LIVE conversation: Mastering the Art of Losing Subscribers

Watch now! | Never a failure, always a lesson (and other principles of Emergent Strategy)

After much ado, we finally held our LIVE conversation that was initially planned for December. And since things never go completely according to plan, this time, we had a small technical issue in that Liza’s Substack app on the phone didn’t seem to be connected to the camera and that short of deleting the app and reinstalling it and rescheduling the LIVE again, we had no option but to proceed with Liza being present in voice only (+ what may be her best photo ever 😎).

First of all thank you to over 40 people who joined the LIVE. And thank you to so many viewers who were super active with comments and questions in the chat. Thank you for staying despite our technical challenge. We really enjoyed this conversation and judging by the comments, so have many of you.

Here are some things we covered in the conversation:

  • how to find your voice

  • why you need to throw some spaghetti at the wall

  • once you put content out you have no control over how it will be received

  • no one will give you a reward for doing something you don’t enjoy

For more on this subject, see this article.

And finally, since we mentioned the Principles of Emergent Strategy by adrienne maree brown, here is a list of them, if you are curious:

We would love to hear your thoughts on the subject, do watch the video and let us know what your experience is. And subscribe for Mastermind for Food Writers so you can join us in our monthly calls where we host conversations on the similar topics.
