October Mastermind for Food Writers Meeting with Special Guest Dianne Jacob
The October meeting is on Wednesday, October 15th
Hello everyone!
The October Mastermind Meeting is on Wednesday, October 15th and I hope you can join us! You’ll find the meeting time, which is different from our usual time, and link to join is below.
This month’s meeting features special guest Dianne Jacob
Dianne is a writing coach, author and teacher, specializing in food writing with an extensive background in publishing. Many years ago, as an aspiring food writer, I devoured Dianne’s book, Will Write For Food, and it was instrumental in turning my aspirations into a career.
I picked up a new, updated copy of the book a few weeks ago and might have gotten even more out of it the second time.
Dianne has won an impressive list of awards for her work as an author and teacher and has worked with a wide variety of successful authors (you can browse through some of her client’s published works here). In this week’s meeting, she has graciously volunteered her time to talk with us about writing, voice, book publishing, freelancing, and all things involved in the art and the business of writing about food.
*What are your questions for Dianne? What are some of the things you’d like to pick her brain about? Please leave your questions as a comment here or send me a direct message.
Please note the time for this month’s meeting as it differs from our usual. The meeting will be recorded! If you can’t make the meeting but have questions for Dianne, leave them as a comment here.

I am afraid I will have to miss this one as it will be 11 pm where I am currently staying. But I look forward to reading the notes about the event.
Awesome. I’ll try to make it. If I can’t, here’s a question. With how much the periodical publishing industry has changed in recent years, what advice do you have for folks pitching freelance article ideas to major food publications like Food & Wine, Bon Appetit, etc?
